Contacting Tom 7
My e-mail address is . I no longer have a campus phone number or mailing address
or anything like that. If you want to get in touch with me a different
way, it's probably best to e-mail me for the deets first.
Tips for e-mailing me
First, I don't want to discourage anybody from sending me mail!
I read them all and I enjoy hearing from real people. That said,
at times (especially after posting a video) I get overwhelmed and
don't respond.
If you want to maximize your chances for a response:
I currently make time to write emails at lunch time on Mondays every week. So if
you send me an email Sunday night or Monday morning it is most likely
going to feel fresh and not get lost.
A lot of people ask me for
advice, which I guess is flattering, but a question like "do you have
any advice about going to grad school?" or even "do you have any life
advice?" is both pretty impersonal and takes a lot of mental energy to
answer well. If you ask a specific question I'm much more likely to
respond.
Things I generally don't care much for:
I'm basically uninterested in job recruiters and video sponsorships (I do
sometimes say yes to things like speaking invitations, though!)
If I can tell the e-mail was written by AI I will think that
you are lazy and don't care about my time.
